Key Features

Why manufacturers
choose EVA film

The EVA-Based Hot Melt Adhesive Film is engineered around the specific demands of leather goods and footwear manufacturing — where bond strength, stiffness, and the tactile quality of the finished product are all equally critical.
Strong Bonding Performance
Delivers a durable, reliable bond between substrates with excellent adhesion across leather, textiles, plastics, and composites — maintaining bond integrity under stress and flexion.
Low Processing Temperature
Requires only 80°C for activation — significantly lower than standard hot melt adhesives. Reduces energy consumption and prevents thermal damage to delicate leather and fabric substrates.
Enhanced Stiffness & Structure
The film provides structural stiffness to the bonded assembly — essential for leather goods like bag bases, shoe counters, and wallet interiors that require form without sacrificing flexibility.
Excellent Hand Feel
Ensures a premium, soft, and smooth tactile surface — especially important for consumer-facing leather products like handbags, wallets, and footwear where touch quality drives purchase decisions.
Adjustable Open Time & Tackiness
We customise the open time and tack level of the adhesive to match your production process — giving operators more control during manual or automated application without pre-mature bonding.
Versatile for Multiple Substrates
Trusted by manufacturers across the leather goods industry for bonding leather to a wide variety of substrates — fabric, foam, non-woven, plastic board, and more — in a single production step.
Application Guide

How to apply the film

01
Prepare Your Substrates
Ensure both surfaces are clean, dry, and free from dust, oil, or release agents. For smooth leather or plastics, a light surface abrasion improves adhesion. No primer required for most standard substrate pairs.
02
Position the Film
Place the EVA film between the two substrates to be bonded. Cut to the required size or shape in advance. Ensure even coverage across the bonding area — no overlap or gaps that would create weak zones.
03
Apply Heat & Pressure
Set the heat press or fusing machine to 80°C with sufficient pressure for full contact. Dwell time varies by thickness and substrate — Precollee will advise specific settings for your material combination. Compatible with flat-bed presses, rollers, and hand irons.
04
Cool & Test
Allow the assembly to cool to room temperature before handling or stressing the bond line. Carry out a preliminary peel test to confirm settings. Bond strength increases as the EVA fully crystallises over the first few hours after bonding.

FAQ

Common questions answered

Leather manufacturing
Why is 80°C significant for leather bonding?
+
Most leather and synthetic leather surfaces are heat-sensitive — prolonged exposure above 90–100°C can cause discolouration, shrinkage, or texture damage. Our EVA film activates fully at 80°C, giving a strong and complete bond without any risk of thermal damage to the substrate surface or finish.
Can the open time be extended for larger assemblies?
+
Yes. We can customise the open time of the adhesive to give operators more working time before the bond sets. This is particularly useful for large panel assemblies or manual operations where precise positioning is required after film activation.
How does EVA compare to TPU hot melt film?
+
EVA hot melt film offers greater stiffness and is preferred when structural firmness is required in the final product — such as bag bases, wallet stiffeners, and shoe counters. TPU hot melt film offers superior elasticity and wash resistance, making it better suited for garments, seamless underwear, and stretch fabric applications.
Is the film compatible with synthetic leather (PU leather)?
+
Yes. Our EVA film bonds well to both genuine leather and polyurethane synthetic leather. We recommend a sample test on your specific PU leather grade to confirm adhesion and visual appearance, as surface treatments and release coatings on synthetic leather can vary widely between suppliers.
What widths and formats are available?
+
The film is available in roll format, slit to your required width. Custom lengths and sheet formats can be arranged for lower-volume or prototyping applications. Contact us with your required dimensions and we will confirm availability and lead time.
